Insurance

All vehicles are required by the local traffic laws and regulations to have a minimum of third party insurance cover for use on Bahrain’s roads.
To assist our customers, Al Bandar cars has ties with many of the leading insurance companies to provide you with competitive insurance cover. Through them we can provide the correct cover whatever your vehicles or circumstances. Our sales team will be pleased to assist you with a full quotation to meet your needs.

Vehicle Ownership Transfer

To transfer the ownership of a vehicle both the seller and the buyer of the vehicle should be present at the vehicle licensing (registration) division located at the Directorate Traffic with the following documents:
1. Ownership transfer Form completed and signed by both parties.
2. The vehicle’s inspection and registration certificate.
3. Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one full year starting from the month of vehicle registration in the new owner’s name.
4. Valid CPR identity card of the owner or, in case the vehicle is owned by a company, a copy of the commercial registration license (CR Copy).
5. No claim letter (release letter) from the car dealer or the concerned bank if the vehicle is registered jointly with finance payments.
6. The necessary vehicle ownership transfer fees.
Once the vehicle is registered, the vehicle registration certificate is issued (which must be displayed on the right-hand side of the front windscreen of the vehicle), the new ownership and inspection certificate is issued, in addition to that the owner is issued with a receipt which may be taken to the approved number plate’s manufacturer to collect the vehicle’s new number plates if the number was changed.

Renewal of the Annual Vehicles Licensing

The registration of the vehicle (licensing) should be renewed before the date of the expiry of registration. And that can be done by either visiting the nearest Post office in your area, or by visiting the vehicles licensing division at the General Directorate of traffic after passing the vehicle inspection.
The following should be provided for the renewal of registration:
1. The vehicle’s inspection and registration Form after it has been approved by the Vehicle inspection division.
2.The vehicle’s inspection and registration certificate.
3.Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one full year starting from the month of vehicle registration.
4. Valid CPR identity card of the owner or, in case the vehicle is owned by a company, a copy of the commercial registration license (CR Copy).
5.The necessary vehicle registration fees.
After the vehicle is registered, the vehicle registration certificate is issued which must be displayed on the right-hand side of the front windscreen of the vehicle.
In case of failure to renewing the annual licensing of the vehicle, a delay fee is charged which is 500 Bahraini Fills per day up to a maximum delay fee sum of BD 20.000 only.
Failure to comply with the above conditions will mean that the vehicle will fail the inspection.

Vehicle Export

If you wish to export your vehicle for any reason; the application may be submitted to issue the necessary certificate and export number plates at the vehicle licensing division and should provide the following:
1. The vehicle’s inspection and registration certificate.
2. Insurance certificate covering at least third party and valid for one month.
3. Valid CPR identity card of the owner or, in case the vehicle is owned by a company, a copy of the commercial registration license (CR Copy).
4. No claim letter (release letter) from the car dealer or the concerned bank if the vehicle is registered jointly with finance payments.
5. The necessary vehicle export fees.

Road Traffic Accidents

In the unfortunate event that you are involved in a road traffic accident, whether with another vehicle or not, you will need to call the Traffic Police Department. They will send a Traffic Police Officer to assist you. You must not move the vehicle until the police arrive and advise you to do so. Failure to adhere to this may affect your insurance claim.
